Vince Pettipas grew up in Dartmouth NS. He began playing bass at age 12 in the school band.
As a teenager he played in several local alternative/punk rock bands, playing gigs throughout the HRM at all ages venues. During those years he taught himself to play drums, as well as guitar. After graduating high school, Vince moved to Toronto, where he spent 5 years studying/playing music part-time, while working full time as a tradesman.
While in Toronto, Vince played bass in several bands, performing and recording with blues/rock trio "Sparwood" as well backing singer/songwriter Greg Hamilton. During this time Vince also performed with West African reggae artist "Ras Israel".
Since his return to the HRM in 2008 Vince has continued to study music and explore different musical styles, adding mandolin and upright bass to his list of instruments played. In 2009 Vince toured with the "Strangeboys", who won a 2009 Nova Scotia Music Award for Best Bluegrass Band. Vince currently lives in Halifax, where he freelances as a multi-instrumentalist. He is also a full time member of "Tomi Allen's Abstract Echoes", who can be seen playing gigs regularly in the HRM.
